Random Number Generator
Need to pick a number without arguments, bias or second-guessing? This free random number generator draws a number between any minimum and maximum you choose — instantly, fairly and with a bit of suspense. Set your range, hit Generate Number, and let chance decide. Your last ten results are saved in the history panel so you can keep track of every draw.
How to use it
- Set the minimum — the lowest number that can be drawn (inclusive).
- Set the maximum — the highest number that can be drawn (inclusive).
- Click Generate Number — the display cycles through candidates before landing on the final result.
- Check the history — the last 10 draws are stored locally in your browser, with the range and time of each one.
What people use it for
- Raffles and giveaways: number your entries, generate a winner, done. No hat, no paper slips.
- Classrooms: assign each student a number and pick who answers next — fair and drama-free.
- Games: replace lost dice, settle who goes first, or generate random scores and penalties.
- Decisions: can't choose between 5 options? Number them and let the generator break the tie.
- Sampling: pick random items from a numbered list for surveys, spot checks or audits.
Is it fair?
Yes. Every number in your range has exactly the same probability of being drawn. The generator uses the browser's built-in pseudorandom number generator (PRNG) with a uniform distribution: for a range of 1 to 100, each number has precisely a 1-in-100 chance. Pseudorandom generators are the same class of algorithms used in video games and simulations — deterministic under the hood, but statistically indistinguishable from chance for any practical purpose like raffles or games. The animation you see is pure suspense: the final number is drawn independently, and previous results never influence the next one.
Tips
- Both ends of the range are inclusive — 1 to 10 means ten possible outcomes.
- Repeats can happen, because every draw is independent. If you need unique winners, use the Wheel of List spinner — it removes each winner from the wheel automatically.
- Simulate any die by setting the range: 1–6 for a classic die, 1–20 for a d20. Or roll several at once with the Dice Roller.
- Your history stays on your device — nothing is uploaded anywhere.
FAQ
Is it truly random?
It uses a statistically uniform PRNG — every value in the range has an equal chance. For cryptographic purposes you'd want a hardware source, but for draws, games and decisions this is exactly the right tool.
Can the same number come up twice?
Yes — draws are independent. Use the wheel spinner for no-repeat picks.
Is there a limit?
No sign-up, no limits, completely free.
